Salen Village and surroundings
Many people choose to come to mull in winter to escape the stresses of everyday life.
HART OF MULL is open throughout the year and on even the coldest winter night you will be warm and comfortable. Your holiday log cabin has been imported from Finland and has been manufactured with Scandinavian know-how and benefits from full electric heating. The nights in winter are dark and stars and the Milky Way are clearly visible, occasionally the northern lights can also be seen. |

Salen village sits at the narrowest point of Mull, the island at this point is only two and half miles wide making both the east and west coast easily accessible A five minute stroll from your log cabin takes you through the village and down to Salen bay where seals can be seen swimming round or basking on one of several small tidal islands, you may also get lucky enough to see an otter whilst taking in the beautiful views across to Morvern and Ardnamurchan. |
HART OF MULL benefits from being located on the edge of the village down a quite little road but is also within easy walking distance of the Salen Hotel or Mediterranea Italian restaurant [means you don’t have to worry about drink driving].
There is also a post office and a village shop which is particularly well stocked with all the provisions you will need for your stay. On warm summer evenings the daylight never seems to end and you may choose to stay at your log cabin and have a barbeque [provided] and sit out on the covered deck area with a glass of wine, where it is not unusual to see Mulls famous Sea Eagles flying overhead or some of Mull’s many red deer strolling nearby. |
Most visitors to mull who choose a self catering holiday use it as a base to tour the island HART OF MULL is ideally suited to this. Going North 10 miles takes you to the busy little town of Tobermory with its pretty colourful house and shops along the harbour front.
If you go the 2.5 mile to the west coast could choose to turn right and enjoy the truly picturesque drive along the coast with views across to the mighty Ben more. Turning left would take you past the magnificent Gribun rocks, and for the more adventurous of you Dishieg the starting point for climbing Ben More. |
